The food and wine adventure begins with a guided tour of the vineyards and winery nestled in the Vinho Verde region. This immersive experience culminates on a lush green terrace, where the serene beauty of the Minho River Valley can be enjoyed. Next, the journey continues to a smokehouse located just down the road. Here, you will delve into the rich history of Melgaço’s Fumeiro (smoked meats) tradition, as well as explore the vineyards and herbal tea farms.
In the welcoming tasting room, the experience concludes with a tasting of local delicacies and four iconic wines. The spotlight here is on the Bísaro pig, a local breed raised with ecological methods, showing deep respect for the environment. This culinary experience showcases a variety of traditional smoked meats, including Salpicão (dry-cured smoked pork sausage), Chouriça de Sangue (smoked blood sausage), Chouriça de Carne (smoked pork sausage), and Alheira (smoked sausage made with pork and bread).
These artisanal meats are perfectly complemented by homemade jams and fresh vegetables from an organic garden, all paired with distinguished wines from the collection. Soalheiro Clássico, the flagship wine, exemplifies the aromatic character of Alvarinho. Primeiras Vinhas, sourced from old vines, captures the unique micro terroirs within the region. Granit’s mineral profile, born from high-altitude vineyards, showcases the versatility of the terroir. Finally, Brut Alvarinho, the sparkling wine, was the first of its kind made using the traditional method, highlighting the pioneering spirit of winemaking.
Additionally, there is an opportunity to sample The Pur Terroir herbal teas, which are a testament to the potential of the land. These teas are crafted using an innovative low-temperature dehydration process, preserving the essential oils—highly volatile compounds that give each infusion its distinctive aroma, taste, and beneficial properties. The teas are carefully selected and prepared to ensure that more than 90% of the content in both loose leaf and bagged varieties consists of premium-quality leaves.
